I Was Lied to -- RHN Satellite

  April 8, 2005   Operations

Just got some RHN Satellite entitlements to convert folks over to a much more easily managable Satellite system. The goal is to give the folks at the workplace much greater access and control of our RHEL contract.

I was promised Group Accounts. The magic accounts that Red Hat creates for your company where you can see and access all the other sub-accounts in your company. I was looking forward to giving departments these group accounts so they can be the top-level folks for their machines instead of me for a couple thousand computers. Nope. Doesn’t do that.

Source RPMs. This is Open Source (mostly) I want to get at the source RPMs from my Satellite just like RHN. Nope. Syncing the source RPMs is COMMENTED OUT of the Satellite code. Not pleased am I.
